Crunchyroll, the leading anime streaming platform, is continuing its mission to make anime more accessible by announcing the launch of its app on Xfinity X1, Xfinity Flex, and Xumo Stream Box devices. This marks another milestone for the platform, which recently surpassed 15 million paid subscribers and expanded its distribution through YouTube TV’s Primetime Channels.
Starting today, Crunchyroll subscribers can access the service on Comcast’s Xfinity and Xumo platforms, including Xfinity Flex streaming devices, X1 cable boxes, and Xumo Stream Boxes. The app is also available on Xumo-branded smart TVs sold across the U.S. in over 8,000 retail locations, such as Best Buy, Walmart, Target, and BJs.
“We’re excited to bring Crunchyroll to Comcast’s entertainment devices, expanding the availability of our extensive anime library for Xfinity and Xumo customers to enjoy their favorite anime,” said Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll. “Whether they’re longtime anime enthusiasts or newcomers, viewers can now easily discover and enjoy our vast catalog of series and films. This collaboration marks a significant step in making anime even more accessible to fans across the U.S.”
With over 50,000 episodes across 2,000 series and 25,000+ hours of content, Crunchyroll offers the largest dedicated anime library in the world. This fall alone, the platform is adding more than 40 new anime series, including Dragon Ball Daima, Blue Lock, and the 25th anniversary season of One Piece.
Sudhir Muralidhar, Vice President of Product and Platform Experiences at Comcast said “Anime has been exploding in popularity here in the U.S., so Crunchyroll is a great addition to the growing catalog of streaming apps available across our platforms. With the launch of Crunchyroll on our platforms, customers can now enjoy some of the best and most-popular anime programming directly alongside all the other movies and TV shows they love.”
Finding Crunchyroll on these devices is simple. Users can either search manually or use their voice remote to say “Crunchyroll” and launch the app.
This partnership highlights Crunchyroll’s commitment to broadening its reach and bringing anime to even more fans, offering them a seamless way to explore its expansive library alongside other entertainment options. As the demand for anime continues to grow in the U.S., Crunchyroll’s integration with Xfinity and Xumo platforms ensures that audiences have greater access to beloved shows and new releases.
It is worth noting that the recent intensification of the crackdown on anime-based piracy sites presents an opportunity for Crunchyroll. By expanding its availability across platforms like Xfinity and Xumo, Crunchyroll is well-positioned to attract and convert users from these unauthorized services, further solidifying its user base.
