Simply.TV Acquires Red Bee Media’s Content Discovery Business, Lands Investment from Summit Partners

Simply.TV has acquired Red Bee Media’s Content Discovery Business, a move that significantly strengthens its presence in the U.S. market. Alongside the acquisition, the video metadata provider also secured a majority growth equity investment from Summit Partners. This marks Simply.TV’s first institutional funding round and positions the company for broader global expansion.

Founded in 2019 by Morten Trolle and Daniel Rühmann, Simply.TV delivers metadata solutions that power content discovery, search, and recommendations for streaming platforms, video aggregators, and smart TV manufacturers. The company’s client base includes over 200 digital media brands such as Telenor, TitanOS, A1, Orange, and Zapping.

With the integration of Red Bee Media’s U.S. metadata assets, Simply.TV plans to combine its proprietary technology with a broader data footprint to deliver more scalable and accurate content discovery solutions. The addition of Summit Partners provides both capital and strategic guidance to support the company’s growth efforts.

Daniel Rühmann said the acquisition will help extend Simply.TV’s impact globally while reinforcing its U.S. market strategy. He emphasized that the company’s platform was designed to meet growing expectations for metadata scalability, flexibility, and quality, enabling clients to improve engagement and user experience.

Summit Partners’ investment reflects broader trends in the video metadata sector, where accurate and responsive metadata is becoming increasingly vital to platform differentiation. Chris Bon and Johannes Grefe of Summit Partners both highlighted Simply.TV’s technology-first model and have joined the company’s board of directors.

The financial terms of the acquisition and investment were not disclosed.
