X Games Brings Decades of Action Sports to Streaming Through FAST Channel with Frequency

The X Games will launch its FAST channel in collaboration with Frequency, a prominent streaming channel creator and distributor. This venture will mark the X Games’ entry into the FAST space, providing action sports fans with a 24/7 viewing platform for X Games’ expansive content library and live global events.

A Legacy in Action Sports

Since its inception in 1995, the X Games has carved a unique space in the action sports world, bringing extreme sports to a mainstream audience with events like skateboarding, BMX, motocross, and snowboarding. Over the years, it has become a premier showcase for high-flying, high-stakes competition. It has served as a springboard for notable athletes, including Tony Hawk, Travis Pastrana, and Shaun White. Under the ownership of MSP Sports Capital, which acquired it from ESPN in 2022, the X Games is evolving its digital strategy, amplifying accessibility to its events and content archives through streaming.

24/7 Access to Decades of X Games Moments

With this FAST channel, fans will gain round-the-clock access to some of the most iconic moments in action sports. The streaming platform will feature a mix of live events from X Games’ global circuits and highlight content from its rich 30-year history. “We’re excited for fans of the X Games and action sports to have 24/7 access to X Games content on our own branded channel,” said Scott Guglielmino, President and COO of X Games. This move aligns with MSP Sports Capital’s strategy to expand the X Games’ digital reach and distribution, leveraging Frequency’s Studio toolset for a seamless rollout.

Growth Potential for Sports in Streaming

The X Games’ decision to enter the FAST channel space speaks to the increasing demand for niche sports content in the streaming landscape. Blair Harrison, CEO and founder of Frequency highlighted the strong potential for sports in streaming, noting, “Sports is a category that we believe will see exponential growth in streaming television, and X Games will be able to reach new audiences through this channel.” Frequency’s experience in live event streaming and automation will help to optimize viewer engagement as the X Games taps into a new distribution footprint.

Looking Ahead to 2025 Events

With the X Games’ first major FAST distribution announcements expected in 2025, the upcoming launch is likely to coincide with significant live events, creating a high-impact entry for the channel. This channel represents a step forward in reimagining the accessibility of action sports content, allowing X Games to continue its legacy and reach new global audiences.
