AMC+ with Ads Launches as a Premium Subscription on The Roku Channel

AMC Networks and Roku have announced the availability of AMC+ with ads through The Roku Channel. This new ad-supported tier is now accessible to Roku users for $4.99 per month, offering the same content lineup as the ad-free version at a lower price point.

Subscribers to AMC+ will have access to content from AMC, BBC America, IFC, Sundance TV, and the targeted streaming services Shudder, Sundance Now, and IFC Films Unlimited. This includes flagship titles like The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon—part of The Walking Dead franchise, which seems to have as many seasons as zombies—and other fan favorites such as Interview with the Vampire and Dark Winds.

The ad-free version of AMC+ remains available at $8.99 per month or $83.99 annually, with both tiers offering a seven-day free trial for eligible users. This expansion to ad-supported streaming comes as more platforms, like Disney+ and Netflix, introduce lower-cost ad-supported tiers in response to growing demand for more affordable options.

Industry research from ScreenThink indicates that ad-supported streaming models positively impact services across the board. Prime Video, for instance, has seen 92% of its UK subscribers opt for its ad-supported plan, suggesting that many consumers are willing to tolerate ads in exchange for a lower price. AMC+ is now following this model by offering more flexibility to subscribers, who can choose between ad-supported or ad-free plans depending on their preferences.

With over 55 premium services available via Premium Subscriptions on The Roku Channel, this move further strengthens Roku’s position as a leading content aggregator. Users benefit from centralized subscription management and a simplified viewing experience, making accessing all their streaming content in one place easier.
